Alice Laura Kortman Spencer

Alice Spencer, 94 of Hawks passed away Sunday morning January 25, 2015 at Tendercare in Rogers City.
The daughter of August and Martha (Schleben) Hamann was born April 14, 1920 in Rogers City. She married Lawrence Kortman in 1936 together they raised four children. After Lawrence passed away she married Clyde Spencer in 1967 they enjoyed traveling, fishing, and cross country skiing. Alice always enjoyed playing all kinds of card games but spitzer was her favorite. She was a member of Golden Agers, Faith Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid.
Surviving are two sons Orlan (Lorraine) of Hawks and Douglas (Jean) of Lachine; two sisters Audrey (Vincent) Filarski of Posen, and Georgene (John) Urban of Hawks; a brother Fred (Wilma) Hamann of Warren; 17 grandchildren Karen (John) Miller, Ricky Kortman, Diane (Jon) Jackson, Lisa Kortman, Heidi (Todd Plath) Kortman, Kevin (Sue) Filarski, Chris (Debbie) Filarski, Joseph (Kathy) Filarski, Thomas Filarski, Jeffery (Mary) Filarski, Kim (Jim) Roberts, Randy (Jane) Urban, Elgene (Clare) Urban, Bradley Kortman, Jody (Richard) Newman, Amy (Bob) VanHoven, Eric (Patty) Kortman; 30 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 7 step children Dale (Mildred) Spencer of Texas, Donna (Howard) Kitter of Alpena, Sandra Hawley of Florida, Clyde (Judy) Spencer of Florida, Sharon (Lawrence) McCracken of South Carolina, Linda Fleck of Florida, Jack (Jean) Spencer of Texas; 51 step grandchildren; 89 step great grandchildren; 52 step great great grandchildren; 2 step great great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husbands Lawrence in 1967 and Clyde in 1994; a brother Melvin; two sisters Fredelda McCann, and Margaret (Borrousch) Fried; 2 great granddaughters Jodi Roberts, and Mallory Kortman; a great grandson Devin Filarski; a step daughter and 2 son in laws Joanne (Neal) Hawley and Morris Hawley.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 28, 2015 at Hentkowski Funeral Home from 4 until 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at Faith Lutheran Church in Hawks from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Reverend Dr. Jack Ferguson Officiating. Burial will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Hawks.
Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church of Hawks.
