Leonard Lucas Otremba, 92, of Posen passed away Sunday April 9, 2017 in Tendercare Health Center of Rogers City.
Leonard was born and raised on a farm in Posen. In his adult years he met the love of his life, Alice (Pilarski). They married on September 16, 1945. Excited to start their new life together, they moved to the Detroit area for 12 years. Life had its ups and downs but with enough love and support, Alice and Leonard were together for 71 years. Leonard had big dreams of becoming a farmer. So, he and his wife set out for Up North. They purchased 66 acres of farm land in the Posen area and built a store in the Metz community. Hard times came so he took a job at Cadillac Products in Rogers City. He worked there for 25 years while running his farm.
He loved animals and enjoyed caring for the chickens, ducks, baby calves, and steers. The outdoors was his serenity! Gardening, smoking sausage, and of course riding his tractors and 3 wheeler where some of his favorite things to do.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Alice, and daughter Doreen (Jim) Parish of Onaway. Grandchildren Steven (Katherine) Wilk of California. Jennifer Wilk of Hawks, Alicia (Christina) Wilk of Roseville. Great grandchildren, Mataya and Jadyn Hanson of Hawks. Brother Edward Otremba and sister Virginia Backlandt.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Senior and Stephanie. His sister Helen, and brothers Eugene and Charles Jr.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass on May 3, 2017 at St. Casmir’s Church. Following will be a lunch at St. Casmir’s school gym. On line condolences may be sent to hentkowskifuneral.com.
