Nellie May Ormsbee
Afton lost a great lady, beloved sister aunt, and friend. Nellie May Ormsbee, earned her angel wings and crown on July 24, 2023, in Cheboygan.
The daughter of the late Orion Albertus and Nora Nellie (LaPeer) Ormsbee was born in Petoskey, on August 11, 1950. Nellie attended and graduated from the Afton and Inland Lakes Schools. After school she worked at Circuit Control known as ITT, she then worked for Petoskey Plastics and retired with 35 Years of service.
Nellie enjoyed planting flowers, especially gladiolus, and feeding the birds, especially the hummingbirds. A special joy of Nellies was living with and taking care of her brother Marvin, until his passing on May 31, 2023. She also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, they called her Aunt Nellie Bellie, and Granny. To her they were her children, since she never married or had children of her own.
Nellie will be sadly missed by her 4 sisters Mary Durfey of Cheboygan, Gail Lounsberry of Afton, Bonnie (Jay) Meldrum of Cheboygan, and Katherine (Nicholas) Koss of Afton; a brother-in-law George Pavwoski Jr., and a sister-in-law Dawn Ormsbee both of Cheboygan; stepmother RuthAnn (Vogt) Ormsbee of Gaylord, formerly of Afton; stepbrother Roy (Nicole) Ormsbee of Gaylord, stepsister Sylvia (Richard) Dunbar Coles of St. Louis, MI; several nieces and nephews, and great, great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Judy Pavwoski, and 3 brothers Orion A., Marvin Fred, and Joseph, brother-in-law Bernard Durfey, nephew Norman Pavwoski Sr., a great-niece Margaret Ormsbee, and both sets of grandparents.
The celebration of life for Marvin scheduled for August 12, 2023, has been changed to September 16, 2023, at the Benton Township Hall in Alverno. This celebration will be for both Marvin and Nellie. Arrangements are in the care of Hentkowski Funeral Home in Rogers City.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Nellie’s family to help pay for expenses to honor Nellie's wishes.
