Nicholas (Nick) J. Filipiak, 77, of Rogers City, passed away Sunday July 24, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
The son of Victor and Anna (Dost) Filipiak was born February 3, 1945 in Rogers City and Attended Rogers City High School through 1963. He was drafted into the United States Army in November 1965 where he served in the 1st Cavalry Division. Nick is a veteran of the Vietnam War, he earned two Purple Hearts, and the Bronze Star medal for Heroism.
Nick married Carolyn (Schlak) on October 21, 1972. Together they made their life in Moltke Township for 50 years where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on projects in his shop. He could build a custom wood jewelry box or fix anything on his 1968 Ford convertible.
Surviving are his wife Carol, two daughters Vicki Filipiak, Jackie (Jim) Reisner and three siblings Joseph, Arthur and Barbara; two grandchildren Anna and Brandon Reisner; and a dog Stella.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Veronica.
Cremation arrangements are in care of Hentkowski Funeral Home, a private military tribute will take place by VFW Post 607 at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to VFW Post 607 Color Guard.
